vata season

Although it's unseasonably warm today in NYC, we are fully in vata season in the northern hemisphere.  Vata season occurs during the late fall and winter, and is termed such because it carries the same qualities as those seen in people with a predominantly vata dosha: cold, dry, light, clear, and moving. Vata types are healthy and creative, but when they become imbalanced this may manifest with anxiety, depression, insomnia, dry skin, arthritis, constipation, and hypertension. All doshas can technically have vata imbalances during this season, although vata types need to be especially aware of this predisposition. To keep your skin in balance, drink enough water, limit your caffeine intake, and moisturize your skin with a facial oil every evening prior to bed. Vata Facial Oil contains sweet almond oil, organic virgin sesame seed oil, sweet scented geranium flower essential oil, neroli flower essential oil, lemon fruit essential oil, and vitamin E oil. To use, mix 2-3 drops of oil with the same amount of water and smooth over the skin after cleansing and toning.
