the bottom line

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues but the parent of all the others.”

-Cicero

A little late, but never belated. Our founder muses about the meaning of the season.

first layer: we are grateful

Every year, during this season, we give thanks. Thanks for our families, thanks for our friends, and thanks for the simple comforts of our lives that we tend to take for granted - a warm home, clothing, and food. Basic things that aren’t so basic for many in the world today. This is why we choose this season to make our annual donation to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (www.doctorswithoutborders.org), which constitutes 10% of our yearly sales. Doctors Without Borders provides aid in nearly 70 countries, to people threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe.

Like you, beauty has a conscience.

second layer: our anokha® beauties

You’ll find mention of our anokha® beauties throughout our social media; these women are you, with all of your layers of strength, grace, and humanity. We treasure and honor your layers with this brand, which reflects the deeply rooted beliefs that I and my staff also aim to deliver in my surgical practice – that all women are beautiful, and that it’s our job to empower them to see and appreciate it.

We want to hear your voices, too, so please feel free to reach out – on social media, via email, or in person.

third layer: transformation

For too long this line has ducked its head shyly, reflecting my own insecurities about running a second business and having a product line within the highly saturated beauty market. I revisited my fears early in 2018 and finally launched a complete re-brand of the line. You may have begun to notice anokha®’s lovely transformation into the slightly rebellious, always outspoken, and quietly elegant creature that she was always meant to be. I am personally very grateful to our amazing branding team, Willow & Blake, who has helped us to find and express our voice so well.

fourth layer: change is constant

They say that the only constant thing in life is change, and 2019 will demonstrate this to be true. There are some wonderful things in store for us, including pending European Union registration, a fresh new look to our packaging, and a slate of new products for both the face and body. Some things will not change, including our commitment to thoughtfully designed, high-quality natural skincare with the most effective ingredients we can find, always backed by science. I hope you’ll stick around for what promises to be an exhilarating ride.

I am, truly, thankful for every layer of you.

xo
