notes on naturals

natural skincare | luxury | anokha

the bottom line

Natural skincare suffers from the misconception that natural products are less potent than their synthetic friends, and therefore will never irritate the skin and are less effective.

anokha products contain potent botanical actives which are highly effective when used in the right concentrations. For those with very sensitive skin, even plant-based products can be associated with reactions. The key to using naturals effectively is to understand the ingredients while respecting your skin's needs. Here are a few of our recommendations when it comes to going au naturel.

first layer: allergies

Allergies can be unpredictable. While all of our products are clinically validated prior to launch and adhere to the strict standards set by the EU and UK for allergen concentrations, reactions can still occur. Read all labels carefully, and test a small amount of product on your forearm prior to use on your face or body. If you experience itching, burning, or redness of the skin, discontinue use.

second layer: fragrance

Artificial fragrances are never used in anokha's products. The scents within our products derive from the botanical ingredients themselves. In some products, essential oils have been included for both their scent and clinical use. We use primarily "top notes" in our essential oil blends. If you are particularly sensitive to scent, allow the product to sit open without its cap or lid for 10 minutes prior to use to allow these higher fragranced notes to dissipate.

third layer: concentration

Natural skincare products tend to be more concentrated than their synthetic counterparts. Use less product than you are accustomed to, as you'll find that even a small amount goes a long way. This will also decrease the risk of skin irritation and sensitivity.

fourth layer: change is natural

If you've decided to change your entire skincare regimen, we strongly recommend taking it slow. Switch out one product at a time by using each new item for a week prior to adding in another layer. If you have specific skin concerns, we recommend our guides for maintenance, dry & mature skin, oily & acne-prone skin, and sensitive and post-surgical skin.
