A symbol of longevity, strength, and flexibility, the bamboo plant is a valuable ally in the world of green beauty.  Found in diverse climates, including East Asia, India, and the Himalayas, the bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world and is capable of producing 35% more oxygen than trees.  In India alone, there are 136 species of bamboo in 36 genera.  The word bamboo comes from the Kannada term bambu, and has been used in India to treat impotence, infertility, and menstrual pains.

Bamboo contains bambusoideae, which helps to bind moisture to the skin surface. Its extract also contains over 70% natural silica, which gently exfoliates and smooths the epidermis.  Bamboo sap has been traditionally used to heal skin while acting as a humectant, drawing moisture into the deeper layers of the skin.  Bamboo is one of the star ingredients in our Rice & Bamboo Facial Scrub.
