why would I use oils on my face?

oils are a traditional way of providing moisture to the skin of the face and body. they can be customized to suit literally any type of skin.

how do I know that the oils won’t clog my pores or cause breakouts?

the key is to select a product which contains non-comedogenic oils as carriers, as well as essential oils which are targeted for your specific skin needs. those with oily skin, for example, should use a facial oil which has a light carrier oil combined with essential oils with anti-microbial or anti-inflammatory properties. aging skin benefits from extra hydration with antioxidants to help combat free radicals which can cause symptoms consistent with premature aging, including fine wrinkles, age spots, and loss of elasticity.

which oil should I choose for my skin type?

if your skin tends to be very dry, we recommend our vata facial oil, which layers almond and sesame oils for deep hydration, while geranium, lemon, and neroli assist with reducing inflammation and pigmentation.

for combination skin, pitta facial oil provides oils derived from coconut and sunflower to hydrate and condition the skin, while rose, sandalwood, ylang ylang, and jasmine soothe the skin.

finally, for oily skin, we use our kapha facial oil to help balance out your excess with a base of gentle almond and safflower oils, and lovely lavender, clary sage, and bergamot for gentle exfoliation and anti-bacterial activity.

when should I apply a facial oil during my skincare routine?

use oils as the last layer in your skincare routine, after your cleanser, toner, and serum or moisturizer.

how do I apply facial oils to my skin?

there are a few different ways to apply an oil to your face, and the right way is the one that works best for you. we like to pat a few drops onto damp skin. some prefer to layer them onto dry skin.

can I use my facial oils for anything else?

yes, our facial oils are designed to be used as a moisturizer for both the facial skin and the delicate area around the eyes. pat a few drops around and on the orbital rim in the evening, taking care to avoid getting anything into your eyes. consider this your excuse to leave the eye cream jar at home when you’re traveling.

can men use facial oils?

while men can technically use our oils, they may notice more irritation from the essential oils. men’s skin is decidedly different, and repeated shaving makes their skin more vulnerable and sensitive. as a result, they benefit from unscented products, without essential oils.
