Kali is the goddess of kala (time). By ending our illusions, she frees us from the cycle of karma and liberates us from our bodies. She has four arms, which carry the head of a demon, a sickle, and a sword. She wears a necklace of skulls, and a belt made of human hands. Kali simultaneously encompasses empathy, anger, love, and protest. This powerful image by artist Kalyani Ganapathy evokes the beauty and rage of Kali which exists in every woman. I will freely admit that I personally feel a deep connection to Kali.
